Why Hugo + GitHub Pages?

If you’re reading this, my blog actually works — which still feels a little unreal.

I wanted my first post to document exactly how I built this site. Not just the idea, but the actual commands, mistakes, and workflow that got everything live.

This is the post I wish I had when I started.

I wanted a setup that was:

• ⚡ Fast
• 🧠 Simple
• 📝 Markdown-based
• 🔄 Fully version controlled
• 🗄️ No database to maintain

Hugo and GitHub Pages checked every box.

About Me

Hey👋 , I’m James Angwenyi alias Masara

I like figuring out how things work — and sometimes how they don’t.

Most days I’m exploring systems, ideas, and the internet’s weird corners, usually with a terminal open and too many tabs.

Somewhere in there, I work in cybersecurity — basically learning how things break so I can help keep them safe.

I learn by doing: break things safely, fix them, then write it down so future-me remembers.
